It PAYS $$ to be a Realtor®

¨      Become a Realtor® and empower yourself to make more Sales. This equates to significantly more commission dollars and potentially far greater success in your Real Estate Career!

¨      Today, more than ever, you should not be asking yourself the question "can I afford to join a board".  You should be asking yourself "can I afford NOT to join a board" in this competitive market place.

¨      Realtors® are far more likely to make more commission dollars than Non-Realtors. Wouldn’t you rather be amongst the top performing real estate professionals than amongst the worst performing real estate professionals?

¨      Take, for example, if Realtor® board membership empowered you to make just one extra sale this year based on a modest home price of $250,000 paying 3% commission, you would be able to pay your local, state and national board dues for the next 15-20 years! This will happen and it will probably happen more than once and over and over again!

¨      Make sure you are associated with a creditable Firm that is a member of a local Realtor® board from the start. You do not want to be switching from company to company and have to re-build your client base and business. You need to hang your license at a creditable firm that maintains local board membership to give you creditability with past, current, and future clients.

¨      If you are not currently associated with a Firm that is a member of a local Realtor® board, you are probably wondering why you can’t get listings or buyer clients. The Realtor® down the street is probably getting all the clients (and making all the $$) since he/she has empowered themself to thrive in the real estate industry. Realtors® are perceived by the general public as being more creditable, professional, and capable in handling their real estate transactions.

¨      You may loose more potential clients and gain fewer potential clients if you are not a Realtor®.  You probably will not even realize or be aware you have lost a client and/or did not gain a client resulting from not being a Realtor® (it will just happen).

¨      Think the general public does not know the difference between a Realtor® and an ordinary real estate agent? They probably have a pretty good idea! Consumers are smarter than ever and have access to a lot more information than ever before. If they do not know the difference and you are competing with a Realtor® for the client, you can bet your competition will tell them the difference and you will most likely loose another sale.

¨      Without the tools, knowledge, resources, and professional creditability you gain by becoming a Realtor®, the simple fact is that it is highly unlikely you will make it in this industry.

¨      Where else can you get up to the minute and accurate news affecting our industry? For example, new or threatening legislation on a local, state and national level, contract changes, technology resources, marketing techniques and strategies, etc.

¨      Lobbying on a Local Level for you. Who else is going to ban together to prevent a local board of county commissioners from enacting bad legislation that Realtors® believe and know will hurt the housing market in the community.

¨      Lobbying on a State Level for you. For example, GAR members recently banned together to get house bill 261 passed to give ALL home buyers in GA purchasing a primary residence a tax credit up to 1.2% of the sales price or $1,800 to stimulate our State Economy.  Do not confuse this with the Federal $8,000 tax credit for 1st time homebuyers.

¨      Lobbying on a National Level for you. Who else is going to lobby for you on national level. For example, NAR lobbyists have fought legislation to keep Real Estate Agents “Independent Contractor” Status. You would be paying a lot more income taxes if it were not for the NAR lobbyists.  Our lobbyists also helped to get the $8,000 1st time home buyer tax credit approved that no longer has to be repaid if the home is sold.
